Well done to Seán Óg on his RTE Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2005. All at Na Piarsaigh are delighted that his achievements have been recognised with such a prestigious award. Comhgairdeas Seán Óg. 2005 was a remarkable year for our players on the Cork scene with Seán Óg, John and Ronán collecting winners medals and Joe being a member of the selection committee. Seán Óg captained the team and collected another All Star award and the inaugural Today FM sports personality of the month for September. Sean also collected the RTE Sports Personality of the year award and a Munster All Star Award. John Gardiner collected his first All Star award, the GPA Hurler of the year award, Waterford Crystal Hurler of the year award, Munster Council Hurler of the year award, a Munster All Star award and captained Munster to the Inter Provincial title in Boston. John also won the Vodafone Hurler of the month for June for his magnificent displays Joe also managed the Munster team for the Inter Pro series. Sean Óg leads the Cork team in the Parade.
The scene at the Club on Tuesday 13th when up to 5,000 attended the arrival of the Cork team with the Liam McCarthy. It was a memorable night for Club members young and old and for everyone in Farranree, Fairhill and surrounding areas.
